Auto Injuries and Whiplash in Waukesha

Picture
In 2014 there were a total of 119,736 automobile accidents in the state of Wisconsin - which is a staggering number. Thankfully, not all of those accidents were highly serious, but nonetheless even a mild fender bender can result in soft tissue damage in the body.

Early intervention after auto injury:
Immediately after an auto collision people often wait to seek treatment. This approach can be a mistake. A number of scientic studies show that when a patient gets early treatment soon after a crash they have a better outcome than those patients who wait. During a crash tissues of your neck can be stretched or torn. You may not feel pain right away, but as the tissues become swollen or inflamed, patients often wake up the next day sore or with a stiff neck. Pain and stiffness are signs of trauma to the ligaments and muscles of the neck. The bodies response to injury is to restrict movement and to heal the injury by laying down scar tissue. The problem with scar tissue is that each joint in your neck has a fairly limited range of motion and scar tissue reduces that motion even more. If you don't receive proper treatment, that can result in permanently limited mobility, chronic pain and even spinal joint degeneration over time. Early treatment will break up this pattern by improving movement of this area and prevent laying down of excess scar tissue. If you've been in a crash, it is important to see your waukesha chiropractor right away to be checked out and to start the process of recovery. Dr. Jamie will work with you gently to help to improve the mobility of your neck and back and help your body heal quickly. Fear adjustments, no problem! Dr. Jamie has many other treatment modalities to help improve the mobility of your neck and back. If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, please give our office a call.
